The Zimbaqua mine in Zimbabwe, which has an exclusively female workforce, has launched a jewellery collection to highlight the aquamarine stones they produce.

The mine was founded three years ago by a group of women who wanted to train women and provide them with the opportunity to earn and create a decent livelihood.

The project began with fifteen women, and the mine has since been successfully run by 35 women.

Rumbidzai Gwinji, also known as Rumbi, the mine’s manager, claimed that her team was delighted about the potential presented by the jewellery line, where revenues maybe even higher.

The project began with fifteen women, and the mine has since been successfully run by 35 women.

According to the manager, the Zimbaqua Mine’s jewellery line is tremendously exciting since we are now one of the first mines to mine a jewellery brand. This is fantastic for the team since we are now not just mining aquamarines, but also producing the finished product, which is a major step forward for us.

Earrings, necklaces, and rings are part of the jewelry line. She claimed that the mine provided the ladies with a stable source of income that allowed them to care for their children and families.

“We are a very close team. Generally, it’s a calm and peaceful environment. Singing while getting the work done is very real at our mine. Dancing during break sessions and laughing and being happy is the kind of environment that women provide when they work together.”
