Following the 15 months imprisonment ruling on Tuesday June 29 by the constitutional court, former South African President Jacob Zuma has been able to buy more time until July 12, 2021.
Zuma argued that considering his at (79) and considering the Covid-19 pandemic, a stay in prison would be equivalent to a death sentence.
He made this known outside his home in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal, on Saturday where he met his supporters in a festive atmosphere.
Defying Covid-19 protocols, hundreds of Zuma supporters formed a blockade outside his house with many saying “we are here to protect him (Jacob Zuma)”.
There were no police officers on ground to disperse the gathering despite the illegality of such large gathering according to recent Covid-19 restrictions announced by the South African government.
