Former President of Mali, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has died at the age of 76.
A family member announced in Bamako that “President IBK died this morning at 09:00 GMT in his home”
The cause of his death has not been established.
Keita was President of the West African nation from 2013 until he was sacked in a 2020 coup d’état.
When he emerged, he promised to uphold Mali’s national integrity and restore Mali’s image as a model for democracy while campaigning to unify his fractured country and pledging “zero tolerance” for corruption.
