Barry Ferguson has been appointed interim manager of Rangers following Philippe Clement’s departure, with Neil McCann, Billy Dodds, and Allan McGregor joining his backroom staff.
The former Rangers captain’s first match in charge will be Wednesday’s Scottish Premiership fixture away to Kilmarnock (20:00 GMT).
Assistant manager Issame Charai led training on Monday, but coaches Alex Rae, Colin Stewart, and Stephan van der Heyden have also left Ibrox. Clement departed on Sunday after a 2-0 home defeat to St Mirren, left Rangers 13 points behind Celtic.
Rangers chief executive James Bisgrove reiterated that “the issues we are facing run deeper than the manager” and said the club’s ongoing football review aims to address wider concerns.

Clement’s dismissal came after Rangers’ shock Scottish Cup exit to Queen’s Park, followed by two consecutive league defeats at Ibrox. Despite winning away to Heart of Midlothian, the board decided a managerial change was necessary.
Ferguson, 47, has previously managed Clyde, Kelty Hearts, and Alloa Athletic. His assistants also have managerial experience: McCann, 50, at Dundee and Inverness; Dodds, 56, at Ross County and Inverness; while McGregor, 43, recently retired after a successful playing career.
Stewart acknowledged the challenges Ferguson faces, stating, “We appreciate him and his team stepping into the role at this difficult time.”
Rangers’ fixture list includes Saturday’s home match against Motherwell (15:00 GMT), a Europa League last-16 tie against José Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe (March 6 and March 13), and an Old Firm clash with Celtic at Celtic Park on March 16.
