A major explosion has occurred on the Trans-Niger Pipeline (TNP) in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The blast, which happened on Monday night, left a section of the pipeline engulfed in flames by Tuesday morning. Thick black smoke billowed into the sky as fire spread rapidly through the surrounding mangrove, according to a video circulating online.
Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the explosion. However, the incident comes amid recent threats from militant groups following the federal government’s decision to withhold Rivers State’s monthly allocations due to the ongoing political crisis.

The TNP is a key federal pipeline that transports crude oil to the Bonny Export Terminal in Rivers State.
When contacted, Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that she had not yet received full details of the situation.
