Rev Aderogba Adeyinka, Bishop of Jebba Anglican Diocese in Kwara State, his wife, and the driver regained freedom on Tuesday.
According to News Central, the victims were kidnapped after their vehicle developed a mechanical fault while traveling from Yewa, Ogun State to Jebba, Kwara State via an isolated area along the New Oyo/Ogbomoso Expressway.
It was reported that the abductors demanded a ransom of N50 million from the church on Monday, but it was unclear whether the ransom was paid before they regained their freedom.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed their release to our correspondent in Ibadan on Tuesday, saying they were unharmed.
He stated that the Nigeria police force’s state command dispatched officers to rescue the victims.
“The massive deployment of Police personnel for the operation to rescue the victims and the dominance of the entire area by the Police Tactical teams put pressure on the abductors to release the victims,” Olafeso said.
