Governor Dapo Abiodun of Nigeria’s Ogun State has announced that passenger operations at the Ogun State Agro-Cargo Airport will commence in the first quarter of 2024.
In his New Year broadcast to the residents of Ogun State, the governor assured them of significant infrastructure development throughout the state in the coming year.
Governor Abiodun expressed appreciation to the citizens for their resilience and unity in the face of challenges in 2023. He highlighted the administration’s commitment to addressing the state’s infrastructure needs, particularly in the transportation sector.
Over 500 kilometres of roads have been constructed or rehabilitated across the state, contributing to improved transportation and connectivity.
The governor also mentioned the multi-modal transport master plan, which includes land, air, water, and rail modes of transportation. The Gateway Agro-Cargo Airport project, initiated over two years ago, is poised to begin passenger and cargo operations, providing over 25,000 job opportunities. The airport is described as a world-class facility and an economic enabler for the region.
