Oyo state government declared Friday, April 26 as half-working day for Public and Civil Servants in the state.
The government’s decision is in connection with the upcoming local government elections slated for Saturday, April 27, 2024.
Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo, issued a circular mandating all government offices to close by 12 noon on the approved day.
“Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the declaration of Friday, April 26, 2024, as a half working day for all public and civil servants in the state.
“This is in connection with the local government election slated for Saturday, April 27, 2024.”
However, personnel responsible for essential services are required to remain at their posts.
The state government further urged all public and civil servants to exercise their civic rights by participating in the Saturday election.
News Central reports that the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) conducted a two-day training session for ad-hoc staff in preparation for the upcoming local government election on Saturday.
OYSIEC also outlined the schedule for distributing sensitive materials, starting with local government areas in the Oke Ogun axis on Thursday and ending with those in Ibadan, the state capital.
