Morocco defender, Achraf Hakimi will play for Paris Saint-Germain against Bayern Munich despite a rape allegation still being investigated.
Despite being charged with an alleged rape, Achraf Hakimi has been added to PSG’s travelling squad for their Champions League last-16 second match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Authorities officially charged Hakimi with rape last week and interrogated him following an incident that happened on Saturday, February 25, at his Paris home.
Hakimi has nevertheless been added to PSG’s roster for their critical Champions League match against Bayern Munich.
Although Hakimi took part fully in team practise on Monday, the club has not said whether he will play. He was pictured in the stands in PSG’s match against Nantes on Saturday. On the day it was made public that he was being investigated, he also attended FIFA’s The Best honours.
Despite being under investigation, the right-back is allowed to compete against Bayern because he is legally allowed to leave French territory. He is however not allowed to communicate with the victim.
