Former governor of Kaduna State Mallam Nasir El-Rufai received hosted the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) Presidential Candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in Abuja, on Thursday.
El-Rufai hosted the Senator, a few days after visiting former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State.
El-Rufai who is a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been relating with opposition figures lately.
In March, he visited the national chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Abuja.
El-Rufai was securing a ministerial appointment in the government of President Bola Tinubu but he was dropped at the last minute because the Senate had failed to clear him over alleged ‘security clearance’.
Subsequently, the former minister went abroad and literarily withdrew from politics. However, he returned to the country and continued his life quietly until the visit to SDP national secretariat which set tongues wagging.
A former Senator who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, Shehu Sani, had linked visits by some prominent northern politicians to Buhari as a plot to unseat Tinubu in 2027.
