Airtel Africa has announced the retirement of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Segun Ogunsanya, as his replacement, Sunil Taldar, is set to step in.
The telecommunication giant disclosed the appointment of its new CEO through a corporate filing on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
According to the announcement, Taldar will resume his role as head of Airtel Africa’s board on July 1, 2024, after Ogunsaya retires.
Sunil Taldar joined Airtel Africa in October 2023 as Director of Transformation.
Before his appointment with Airtel Africa, Sunil Taldar was the Director of Market Operations at Bharti Airtel, the controlling entity in Airtel Africa.
Sunil Taldar, a Delhi University alumnus, became Airtel Africa’s Director of Transformation after he joined the company in October 2023.
He was the Director of Market Operations at the company that owned Airtel Africa, Bharti Airtel, before being hired by Airtel Africa.
The new CEO moved to Cadbury China as General Manager of Mondelez Indonesia, after playing the same role for Cadbury India.
In 2016, Taldar became a Director of Direct-to-Home Business at one of the biggest telecommunication multinationals in India, Bharti Airtel.
