Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Group of Companies, has extended a commitment to support the Kano state government in North-West Nigeria, with a focus on enhancing the living standards of its residents.

During a visit to Governor Abba Yusuf in Kano, the billionaire native of the state expressed his intention not only to congratulate the governor on his Supreme Court victory but also to explore collaborative efforts in addressing the state’s challenges.

Dangote underscored the imperative of addressing crucial sectors such as health, education, and youth empowerment, emphasising the necessity for collective action beyond governmental efforts alone.

“Your Excellency, first of all, we are here to congratulate you on your victory at the Supreme Court, and I want to assure you of our own support throughout your administration, inshaAllah, from 4 to even 8 years,” remarked Dangote, emphasising his deep-rooted ties to Kano.

Acknowledging his status as Africa’s wealthiest individual, Aliko Dangote reiterated his commitment to serving the people of Kano, pledging continued assistance for the state’s development initiatives.

In response, Governor Yusuf appealed to Aliko Dangote for assistance in various community development projects, including infrastructure upgrades such as roads, electricity, and housing, aimed at uplifting the populace.

Specifically, the Governor urged him to prioritise the completion of ongoing projects initiated by his foundation, including healthcare facilities at Murtala Mohammed Hospital, and advocated for the establishment of additional medical facilities, including a Sickle Cell Hospital.

Governor Yusuf also implored Dangote to consider spearheading modern road construction in Kano, similar to those implemented in other parts of the country, to facilitate economic growth and connectivity.

Expressing gratitude for Dangote’s past contributions, Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to collaboration, highlighting the importance of leveraging partnerships for sustainable development.

Dangote’s extensive philanthropic endeavours, particularly through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, were lauded by Governor Yusuf, citing their role in eradicating polio in Kano State and enhancing human capital development.

The governor affirmed the collective pride of Kano, Nigeria, and Africa in Dangote’s philanthropy, expressing readiness for continued collaboration to uplift the lives of the state’s residents.
