Kunle Afoloyan’sAnikulapo‘ is officially the most-watched movie on Netflix in nigeria as of 2022. This information was released by the streaming statistics site flixpatrol.

The 2022 Nigerian epic fantasy film surpassed huge international projects like ‘RRR‘ and ‘Adam Project’ to secure the top spot; a huge feat considering both movies were released in March while the Nigerian movie came out towards the end of the year.

However, Anikulapo started on a rather controversial and queer note, with reviews that would’ve plunged it down but it surprisingly the Netflix original debuted to rave reviews and quickly became the most-watched non-English film globally.

The Yoruba epic starring Kunle Remi, Shola Shobowale and Bimbo Ademoye rolled in 8,730,000 global views within a few weeks and was shortlisted amidst controversies for the indigenous movies category from Nigeria for Oscars.

Flixpatrol Top 10 list for 2022 Netflix most watched movies includes Nollywood Movies such as The Griot by Adeoluwa Owu, The Breaded Life by Biodun Stephens, The Man Of God by Bolanle Austin-Peters, Chief Daddy 2:Going for Broke by Niyi Akinmolayan and Dwindle directed by Kayode Kasum.
