Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) met with president Muhammadu Buhari in his private home in Daura Monday, to felicitate with him over sallah.

During the one-hour closed-door meeting, the governors reaffirmed their support for the running mate of their party’s presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Kashim Shettima who was unveiled amidst controversies surrounding the muslim-muslim ticket.

Addressing the press after the meeting, chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Abubakar Bagudu said:

“We were pleasantly surprised when Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu announced in Daura on Sunday that Senator Kashim Ibrahim Shettima was the Vice Presidential candidate.

“We were happy that it is no less a person than Senator Shettima who was announced the Vice Presidential candidate. No doubt, Senator Shettima would complement the good qualities of Asiwaju Tinubu. We are very very happy at the choice. The two will complement each other and will surely consolidate on the achievements of the President in the past seven years,” he said.

The nine APC Governors stated that they were satisfied with Shettima’s candidacy, and would work hard to ensure victory for the APC in the 2023 elections.

Meanwhile, the senator representing Adamawa North, Ishaku Abbo, Monday, ditched his membership from Tinubu’s campaign group.

Abbo’s decision was reportedly triggered by the presidential aspirant’s decision to settle for the former governor of Borno state as his running mate; a muslim-muslim ticket, which he described as the height of irresponsibility.

“For Tinubu now to be given the ticket and turn around to do what he couldn’t achieve in 2015 despite opposition from Catholics and other Christian leaders is extremely irresponsible.
