Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday, officially said good bye to his presidential bid, as he rejoined Azimio la Umoja one month after ditching it to go solo.
Musyoka pledged his unalloyed support to ODM leader and Azimio presidential hopeful Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua.
He also accepted the Chief Cabinet Secretary position which Odinga offered during the naming his running mate, Karua last month.
“After deep introspection, I have deferred my dream to run for President in the upcoming General Election.
“I have since concluded and came to the realisation that the future of Kenya is indeed squarely on our shoulders. Thus, I have, with deep humility and appreciation, accepted the nomination to be the Chief Minister in the Azimio government,” he stated.
“Beginning today, I will submit myself to the Azimio One Kenya coalition. The question is not if we form the government but when we form the next government,” he said.
Kalonzo further congratulated Narc Kenya Leader Martha Karua on her emergence as Raila’s running mate.
“Ultimately, I wish to congratulate my learned sister and Senior Counsel, Martha Karua, on her nomination as the deputy president nominee of Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition party.”
“I want to assure Martha of my full and unequivocal support and that of the ticket of Raila and Martha Karua,” he maintained.
The Wiper Party leader abandoned the Azimio la Umoja after Odinga failed to name him as running mate, choosing Ms Karua instead.
Embittered by Raila’s decision, Kalonzo launched an independent presidential race. A lot of persons have accused him of being indecisive, which he has adequately refuted, adding that the move has gained him more popularity and support.
“Ask any Kenyan, I think I have gained more admirers and supporters because of the ability to stand for what I believe was true, just and fair. Those other adjectives I leave to you and others who like to believe in retrogressive imaginations,” he insists.
