In Imo State, three members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps are said to have been killed by unidentified gunmen.
The community of Obiangwu in the state’s Ngor Okpala Local Government Area is in disarray as a result of the tragedy that occurred in the Eke Isu market.
The security operatives had gained control of the neighbourhood and claimed that the NSCDC officers were traveling in a vehicle when they were attacked and killed by the gunmen.
Also, as of the time of this report, the victims’ lifeless bodies were still at the scene.
“Three operatives of the NSCDC were killed last night by unknown gunmen at Eke Isu market in Obiangwu community in the Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State. They were ambushed while in their vehicle. Their bodies have not been evacuated as we speak. Soldiers have taken over the community,” reported an anonymous witness.
Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the police in the state, confirmed that three National Security and Civil Defence Corps personnel were killed. He added that security personnel had managed to restore order within the community in question. Okoye declared that more information on this incident will be available soon via an official statement.
