The Elephants of Ivory Coast trounced the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday to win the 2023 CAF African Cup of Nations final.
The Ivorian players slugged it out with the Super Eagles in a tough encounter that ended in 2-1.
Troost-Ekong’s opener was neutralised and capped by two strikes from Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller.
Ivory Cost had better chances in the first half, Fofana shooting straight at Stanley Nwabali from 25 yards while Max Gradel’s acrobatic effort went just wide of the post. Adingra then had a shot well saved by Nwabali.
The win is Ivory Coast’s third AFCON title and first since their 2015 victory.
