One of Nigeria’s political parties, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has suspended its leader and Presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for six months.

Earlier in August, the chairmen and leaders of the party in ten States of the West African country called on Kwankwaso to stop parading himself as the national leader of the party.

The Board of Trustees of the party announced the six-month suspension of Kwankwaso from his duties as national leader due to anti-party activities.

Kwankwaso has recently been accused of using the National Working Committee (NWC) to victimise members that were against his style of leadership.

A crisis of confidence has brewed silently within the party over the last few months since the end of the 2023 elections, with accusations and counter-accusations between the different groups within its ranks.

The crisis has now reached its climax with the suspension of the leader.

This is coming after Kwankwaso recently suspended its National Publicity Secretary and some others earlier, a move rejected by its Board of Trustees.

    Details shortly…
