A medical jet carrying a child and five others crashed in Northeast Philadelphia on Friday, the air ambulance company operating the aircraft confirmed.
Emergency crews are responding to an explosion in the area of Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue following the crash.
The plane MTS56 (Learjet 55 Mexico registered XA-UCI) was en route to Springfield, Missouri, from Northeast Philadelphia Airport when tragedy struck.
It remains unclear whether those on board were ejected or managed to escape. Police have reported multiple injuries on the ground.

Sources confirm that debris from the plane struck several vehicles in the area, and some shops near Roosevelt Mall are on fire.
The crash occurred in a densely populated residential neighbourhood near Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard, lined with many terraced houses.
