The hunt for a world-class striker at Chelsea could soon be over, as reports emerge that Victor Osimhen has agreed on personal terms with the Blues ahead of a potential move this summer.
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, the Premier League giants are prepared to trigger the Nigerian star’s release clause at Napoli once the current season concludes.
Osimhen’s release clause is believed to be a staggering €130 million, a figure that Chelsea seems willing to meet in their quest to bolster their misfiring attack.
The 24-year-old, who topped the scoring charts in Serie A last season, is said to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, making negotiations over his personal terms a straightforward process.
“Victor Osimhen is always a main target for Chelsea to strengthen their attack,” Galetti revealed on social media. “An agreement with the player would not be a problem, as he would like to join Chelsea Football Club.”
Galetti added that while Chelsea is ready to meet Osimhen’s release clause, discussions are ongoing with Napoli regarding the payment structure of the mammoth transfer fee.
Chelsea’s struggles in front of goal this campaign, despite splashing out on new signings, have highlighted their desperate need for a prolific striker. Osimhen’s remarkable goalscoring exploits, which saw him net 31 times across all competitions last season, could provide the solution to the Blues’ attacking woes.
Should the move materialise, Osimhen’s arrival would represent a significant statement of intent from Chelsea as they aim to bridge the gap to the Premier League’s elite and mount a serious challenge for the silverware next season.
With personal terms reportedly agreed, the focus now turns to the negotiations between the two clubs over the transfer fee and its payment schedule, as they look to secure one of Europe’s hottest striking talents.
