Davido Teams Up with United Masters for New Record Label

Nigerian megastar Davido has forged a groundbreaking alliance with United Masters, marking a pivotal moment in the music industry. United Masters unveiled this momentous collaboration via their official Instagram on April 18, 2024, hailing it as a game-changer in the realm of music. In a press release, the partnership was lauded as transformative, poised to elevate emerging artists across Africa to unprecedented levels of success.

Under the banner of Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), he expressed jubilation at this new venture, emphasizing its significance for both emerging talents and established artists worldwide. This partnership signifies a dynamic shift in the African music scene, leveraging his unparalleled influence to nurture the next generation of musical luminaries.

David Adeleke, known as Davido, joins the ranks of Nigerian artists collaborating with United Masters, following the company’s previous partnership with Sarz Academy in 2023. Davido’s latest venture, Nine+, emerges on the heels of DMW’s recent rebranding to DMW 2.0. Notably, Morravey and Logos Olori, both featured on Davido’s Grammy-nominated fourth album ‘Timeless’, have secured contracts with the label.

Davido’s ascent to stardom reached new heights with his historic performance at the illustrious Madison Square Garden, making him only the third Nigerian artist to headline a sold-out concert at the venue. His success as both an artist and a label boss underscores his commitment to shaping the future of the music industry. With the launch of Nine+, he aims to usher in a new era of talent and creativity, cementing his legacy as a visionary within the global music landscape.

Recall that in December 2023, the global music distribution platform United Masters launched their services in Nigeria providing innovative technology and first-of-its-kind artist marketing solutions for Nigerian artistes.

Through their platform, Nigerian artists will be able to upload and distribute their music to global media partners — such as Spotify, Facebook, Instagram, Apple Music, YouTube, Snap and TikTok — as well as critical African services, like Boomplay, Audiomack, Muska, Music in Ayoba, Anghami and Joox.

In an interview with News Central TV, Chauser Barnes, the Chief Marketing Officer of United Master, emphasised the importance of a stable financial return for both upcoming and established artists.

He said, “What we’re promising everybody is transparency in your dealings. So if you have cultural capital, it doesn’t matter if you can create a little line outside the local club or if you can sell out Madison Square Garden, there should be a very stable return financially for that. We’re looking to really decrypt that for everyone irrespective of whether you’re with United Masters or not”.
