Former governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, has been apprehended by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged N27 billion fraud.
Impeccable sources within the commission confirmed that Ishaku was taken into custody at his Abuja residence in the early hours of Friday.
At least 15 charges have been filed against Ishaku, and he is expected to be arraigned in court soon, as evidence against him has been compiled. Ishaku was still in the anti-graft agency’s custody as of Friday night when this report was filed.
When contacted, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the development to our correspondent but declined further comment.
Ishaku’s arrest comes amidst an ongoing face-off between the commission and the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, who is accused of misappropriating N80.2 billion. A fresh 16-count charges were filed against Bello at an FCT High Court.
