According to Egypt’s textile export council, the country recorded an increase of two percent in its ready-made garment exports for the first quarter of 2019.
A total of $406million was raked in when compared to the $397million recorded in the first quarter of 2018.
The textile sector’s exports, however, dropped marginally at 0.4 percent in March 2019 about $129 million compared to $130 million in the same period 2018.
In the first quarter of 2019, the United States topped Egypt’s importing countries’ table for ready-made garments, recording $224 million, against $193 million record in the same period of 2018.
Exports to the UAE leapt by 334 percent to reach $7 million in the first three months of 2019 compared to $2 million in the same period, the previous year.
Canada’s imports from the Egyptian textiles rose 84 per cent to reach $5 million.
