Egyptian President Inaugurates Sohag University Hospital (News Central TV)

Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi commissioned Thursday the opening of a number of development projects in the Upper Egyptian Governorate of Sohag. The projects include a university, hospital, highway and industrial complex in Sohag region where public investments in the last 9 years reached EGP102 Billion.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouy, Housing Minister Assem el-Gazzar and a number of ministers, as well as senior State officials, were all in attendance.

The New Sohag City documentary was screened at the ceremony that spotlighted the customs and traditions of its residents and the projects executed in the governorate within the Haya Karima (Decent Life) presidential initiative.

The documentary featured the projects aimed at developing 181 villages and seven towns, notably Om Doma village, which saw the establishment of an integrated service complex, hospitals and schools, in addition to supplying natural gas to houses. It showed the project to upgrade Sohag University Hospital at a cost of EGP 1.1 billion.

The documentary also featured the project to develop New Sohag City University at a value of EGP 3 billion and the construction of 290 road projects and five new power stations, as well as building 11 sanitation projects to serve more than 170,000 citizens.

After the documentary, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli delivered a speech, during which he said New Sohag City is one of the “3G twin cities” that the government focused on while implementing a real development process.

One of the inaugurated structures, the newly-built Sohag University has a capacity of 300 beds. About EGP102Billion has been injected in the region since 2014 and EGP 212Billion was disbursed as loans to create jobs, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly confirms.
