Ethiopian Forces Kill Armed Men Behind Benishangul-Gumuz Attack

On Wednesday, at least 100 people were said to have been killed in Benishangul-Gumuz, Western Ethiopia. The State-run Fana TV has said Ethiopian forces has killed 42 of the perpetrators of evil.

In what looked like an attack induced by ethnic tensions, some armed men attacked the village in Western Ethiopia and killed people in their sleep.

The Ethiopian forces are said to have recovered bows and arrows from the killers.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said on Thursday that he’s sending troops to Benishangul-Gamuz, a border town of Sudan.

Ethiopia has been mired in deadly violence between different ethnicities and tribes, with jihadist groups also operating violently on the fringes.

Recall that Ethiopian Forces and Tigrayan forces were on a month-long tension that led to the death of thousands and the displacement of almost one million people.

Ahmed in a message on Twitter described the attack in the village of Mekele, Bulen as tragic.

“The massacre of civilians in Benishangul Gumuz is a tragedy. I am deeply saddened by the inhumane treatment of our people. Our efforts to solve the problem in various ways have not yielded the desired results.

“The goal of our enemies is to disperse the powerful forces we wield against Junta. This will not work. The government has taken the necessary steps to address the root causes.
