    FCTA Allots Over N6.3 Billion Monthly to Area Councils and Stakeholders

    Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has disbursed the sum of N6,316,621,045.37 billion as the statutory allocation for the month of March 2024 to the six area councils and other stakeholders.

    This amount reflects a significant increase of approximately 40 percent compared to the N3,938,092,102.92 billion shared in February 2024.

    Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the FCT Minister of State, who chaired the 188th Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC), expressed satisfaction with the increase and urged the area council authorities to utilise the allocation for meaningful projects.

    FCTA Allots Over N6.3 Billion Monthly to Area Councils and Stakeholders

    Mahmoud emphasised that the allocation goes beyond staff salaries and called on the chairmen to embark on people-oriented projects to justify the resources allocated to the councils.

    A breakdown of the figures released during the JAAC meeting shows that N3,814,043,951.50 billion was distributed to the six area councils, while N2,502,577,093.87 billion was allocated to other stakeholders, totaling N6,316,621,045.37 billion.

    The distribution to the six area councils includes Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), which received N796,985,326.39 million, Gwagwalada with N606,666,131.20 million, and Kuje with N635,903,823.41 million.

    Other area councils such as Bwari received N598,406,880.71 million, Abaji got N564,901,838.77 million, and Kwali received N611,179,951.02 million, totaling N3,814,043,951.50 billion disbursed to the six area councils.

    Additionally, the allocation to other critical stakeholders includes N2,115,855,089.92 billion for primary school teachers, N226,478,989.57 million for 15 percent pension funds, N52,394,108.75 million for traininging fund, and N107,849,405.63 million for 10 percent Employer Pension Contribution, bringing the total sum to N2,502,577,093.87 billion.

    Attendees at the 188th JAAC meeting included the Senior Special Assistant on Administration and Strategy to the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Abdullahi Isa Kaura-mata, Mandate Secretary Area Council Services Secretariat, Bitrus Garki; Permanent Secretary Area Council Services Secretariat, Dr. Olusa Olusegun; Acting Director of Funds, Mr. Muhammed Aris, Commissioner FCT Revenue Mobilisation Fiscal Allocation Commission, Ismail Ajaka, representative of the Accountant General’s Office, Mr. Muhmud Nasiri, and the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, Christopher Maikalagun, among others.
