Dan Halutz, former Israeli Chief of Staff, has criticised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of leading Israel “from bad to worse.”
During an interview on Israeli Channel 13, Halutz referenced the October 7 attack, stating, “He [Netanyahu] is responsible, and I don’t know a country in the world where a prime minister would not climb the tallest tower and jump off of it after something like this.”
Dan Halutz criticised Netanyahu’s response, stating that he “refuses to acknowledge this because in his calendar, there is no 7 October, he has the sixth and the eighth, and on the eighth, the war began and he was fighting. But this man does not fight, he is leading us from bad to worse.” He accused Netanyahu of prioritising his personal political interests and failing to take appropriate action.
Along with other Israeli figures, Halutz previously urged Netanyahu to resign, alleging that the prime minister is solely concerned with retaining power. Netanyahu, however, has refused to take responsibility for the October 7 attacks and opposes early elections.
Speculation is growing in Israel that investigations into the failure to confront the attacks and the conduct of the war against Gaza may lead to the dismissal of political, military, and intelligence leaders, including Netanyahu.
