Former Ondo Deputy Governor Agboola Wins PDP Primary Polls

Former Governor of Ondo state Ajayi Agboola won the Peoples Democratic Party‘s primary election with 264 votes, securing the party’s ticket for the November 2024 governorship election.

Agboola defeated other aspirants including former House of Representatives Kolade Akinjo; former Secretary General of the Afenifere, Chief Sola Ebiseni; Adeolu Akinwumi, Bamidele Akingboye, John Mafo, and Bosun Arebuwa.

Agboola served as deputy governor until 2020 and joined the PDP after failed impeachment attempts.

He will now contest against the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the upcoming election in the state.

PDP held its primaries on Wednesday, April 24. Agboola was pronounced winner on Thursday, April 25, 2024 after collation of results.

Prior to the commencement of the polls, Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Primary Election Committee in Ondo State and Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, assured a free, fair and credible primary that will be acceptable to all aspirants.
