Google has announced it will acquire cloud security platform Wiz for $32 billion in an all-cash deal, aimed at bolstering its cybersecurity capabilities as artificial intelligence (AI) becomes a more integral part of technological infrastructure.
The acquisition will integrate Wiz into Google Cloud, enhancing its security platform to support businesses of all sizes with advanced, end-to-end protection in the AI-driven digital landscape.
Both companies emphasised the growing need for stronger cybersecurity to mitigate emerging risks and safeguard national security, particularly as AI’s influence deepens.
This deal marks the largest acquisition ever pursued by Google or its parent company, Alphabet. It also signals a significant test for President Donald Trump’s stance on large mergers, following resistance to similar transactions under the Biden administration.
Wiz, founded in 2020 by Assaf Rappaport and a team with prior experience selling a venture to Microsoft, will continue to serve clients across multiple cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
Headquartered in New York with offices in Tel Aviv and other U.S. cities, Wiz specialises in real-time security monitoring and risk prioritisation for cloud environments.
