Comedian and actor, Mr Macaroni, has stepped up to defend music executive Don Jazzy following recent comments by fellow artist Wizkid.
Wizkid criticised Don Jazzy on Monday in response to remarks made by Mavin Records artist Ladipoe.
Wizkid claimed he never communicates with anyone signed to an influencer, a comment made after being called out for Ladipoe’s remarks. He also retweeted messages implying that he considered Don Jazzy just a social media influencer.
Responding through his X account on Monday afternoon, Mr. Macaroni stated that while Don Jazzy wields influence across music, content creation, film, and branding, Wizkid’s reference to him as merely “an influencer” disrespected his significant contributions to the Nigerian Music Industry.
Mr. Macaroni highlighted that Don Jazzy is an “absolute legend” known for his selflessness and extensive support for many entertainers in the country, regardless of their status.
Mr Macaroni wrote: “Donjazzy is perhaps the biggest Entertainment Influencer in Africa. And the beautiful thing is that his influence cuts across. From music to content, films, brands etc.
“However, we would all be hypocrites to say that the context in which he was called an influencer isn’t disrespectful to everything he has done and is still doing for the Nigerian Music Industry.
“An absolute legend. He promotes Music artists even outside his record label. Gives free advice and visibility to up-and-coming artists, and shows love to everyone irrespective of their status. I am also a beneficiary of his phenomenal influence! Don Baba J!!!! Your Influence Choke!!.”
