The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Umo Eno of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the governorship poll that took place on March 18. The results were revealed on Sunday in Uyo by the returning officer of INEC, Prof. Emmanuel Adigio, Vice Chancellor of Nigerian Maritime University, Delta.
Adigio reported that Eno defeated Sen. Bassey Akpan of the Young Progressive Party by winning in 29 of the state’s 31 Local Government Areas. (YPP).
He stated that the PDP nominee received 354,348 votes, beating out the YPP candidate, who received 136,262 votes, by a significant margin.
The INEC returning officer added that the Labour Party (LP) received 4,746 votes, while the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) received 12,509 votes and the All Progressives Congress (APC) received 129,602 ballots.
