In Borno State, an unidentified Brigadier-General has been killed in an ambush by Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists.
The attack, which happened in Bulguma, a few kilometres from Askira town in the Askira Uba Local Government Area, four more troops were allegedly killed.
The 28 Task Force Brigade, Chibok, was said to have mobilized to offer reinforcements in Askira, which was under siege.
ISWAP fighters invaded the town in a big convoy of weapons vehicles, according to the Daily Trust Newspaper.
According to a local guard, they assaulted a military post and exchanged gunfire with soldiers.
While on their approach to lend help to soldiers fighting rebels, the forces were attacked.
“It’s a terrible day for us in the theater of combat; Brigadier Commander was killed” (names withheld). ISWAP fighters ambushed and killed the Brigade General and soldiers who were on their way to Askira to help our forces. “We’re sorry,” stated a security source.
According to the source, fighter planes have blasted the lethal gangs, but no further information are known.
