In a bid to support vulnerable residents during the holy month of Ramadan, the Kano State government has rolled out its annual free Ramadan feeding programme, committing N1 billion to provide daily meals for fasting Muslims.
The initiative, launched over the weekend, aims to serve over 8,000 people daily across 91 designated feeding centres within the metropolis.
Speaking at the unveiling event at Dandali Centre in Fagge Local Council, Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo emphasised the administration’s dedication to easing the burden on low-income residents.

He noted that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) government, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has institutionalised the programme as a key part of its social welfare agenda.
The government has engaged catering service providers to prepare and distribute 91,000 meals daily for 27 days, ensuring the effective execution of the programme.
“Consequently, the government has approved the 2025 Ramadan Feeding Programme, with 91 designated feeding centres across the state. The initiative will cater for 91,000 people daily for 27 days.
“To ensure the effective implementation of this year’s programme, catering service providers have been engaged to prepare and deliver 91,000 plates of food per day across all designated centres,” Gwarzo stated.
