South African Businessman and politician Kenny Kunene has been sworn in as the head of the Transport portfolio in Johannesburg as a Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC).
Kunene, who serves as the deputy president of the Patriotic Alliance, has assured the public that his criminal record will not hinder his role as an executive member and that he can be entrusted with the city’s finances.
Ennie Makhafola was also sworn in as the MMC for Health and Social Development as part of the new administration led by Johannesburg Mayor Thapelo Amad.
Kunene added that service delivery is the top priority for the mayoral committee, though he has yet to outline his specific plans.
