Kenya’s Ruth Chepngetich set a new women’s world record at the Chicago Marathon on Sunday, clocking an astonishing time of 2:09:57 and shaving nearly two minutes off the previous record.
The 30-year-old athlete became the first woman to win the Chicago Marathon three times, surpassing the 2:11:53 record set by Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa at the Berlin Marathon last year.
