Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has announced his intention to win the 2027 presidential election. Kwankwaso, who was the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, made this bold declaration on Saturday during the inauguration of the NNPP Secretariat along IBB Way in Katsina.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Kwankwaso was in Katsina to pay a condolence visit to the Yar’adua family following the passing of their matriarch, Hajiya Dada.
Kwankwaso stated that the NNPP is fully prepared to take over the presidency, as well as other political positions across the country, in the 2027 General Elections. He expressed confidence in the party’s trajectory towards success.
In his speech, Kwankwaso emphasised, “I wish to remind you that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is already dead, because we were in the party, since they have gone out of the line, we decided to check out.”
He urged Nigerians, particularly women and youth, to avoid being “deceived with spaghetti or money during the next elections.”
Kwankwaso also called on the party’s leaders to increase their dedication to ensuring the party’s success at both state and national levels. He praised the efforts of stakeholders in renovating the state secretariat, describing it as part of the necessary preparations for future victories.
Furthermore, the NNPP leader committed to assisting a young boy named Abubakar Ibrahim from the Yammawa area of the state, who is suffering from severe acute malnutrition.
Alhaji Armaya’u Abdulkadir, the NNPP state chairman, also spoke at the event. He highlighted the party’s ongoing efforts to educate the electorate about its new logo, which he said symbolises “education for all,” a core focus of the Kwankwasiyya leader. Abdulkadir stressed the importance of grassroots sensitisation to inform party members about the significance of the new logo.
