Justice Abiola Soladoye of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Thursday remanded a man, Stephen Monday at the correctional centre for allegedly defiling his lover’s four-year-old daughter.
The offender is facing a charge of defilement of a child preferred against him by the Lagos State Government.
During the prosecution of the perpetrator, the Director of Public Prosecution, Dr Babajide Martins, informed the court that the defendant committed the crime on February 14, 2021.
Martins explained that the incident happened at about 5 am, at No 5, Ayeloja in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The DPP told the court that the defendant allegedly had carnal knowledge of the four-year-old daughter of his lover. However, the perpetrator pleaded not guilty.
Subsequent to his plea of not guilty, Martins requested a trial date. Accordingly, Justice Soladoye, ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody pending the perfection of his bail. She adjourned the case till November 9, 2023, for commencement of trial.
