The seventh edition of the annual Lagos Theatre Festival (LTF) is scheduled to hold between Thursday, February 27 and Sunday, March 1 at multiple locations across Lagos.
Exploring the theme of this year’s festival, “Going Out of Bounds,” the festival will feature over 120 events at different locations including dance, spoken word, drama, comedy, opera and more.
Among the 20 venues where this festival is set to hold include National Museum Lagos, African Artists Foundation, British Council, Alliance Française, with Freedom Park, Broad Street, Lagos Island, as the main Festival Hub.
At a recent press conference, the Chairman of LTF Foundation, Olasupo Shasore, expressed that the Lagos theatre festival “is committed to ensuring and opening up the art form in the industry.”
Speaking about the year’s theme, the festival’s executive director, Bikiya Graham-Douglas expressed that “this year, our theme for the Lagos Theatre Festival is ‘Going Out of Bounds’.
“What we are saying is we are not going to be boxed by anybody, we are not going to be boxed by tradition, and we are going to allow our imaginations run wild.
“We are going to take our role as people who influence society; we are going to take that role very seriously. We are going to impact positively on society.
“And that’s what we were thinking of when we came up with the theme,” she concluded.
The Festival was founded by the British Council in 2013 in a bid to foster exchange, collaboration and strengthening the relationships between Nigerian and British artists through the presentation of high quality Nigerian and British theatre.
