Magnitude 5.9 Earthquake Hits New Guinea

New Guinea’s Eastern region was on Saturday struck by a magnitude 5.9 earthquake, European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.

The EMSC adds that, the quake hit the Pacific Island nation at a depth of 104 km below the Earth’s surface, revising an earlier report that put the depth at 109 km.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage caused by the earthquake.
