Meet Peter Mensah- A Ghanaian-British Actor

You probably never thought he’s African, well, here are things you need to know about Peter Mensah, the Spartacus actor.

Peter Mensah was born 27 August 1959 and is a Ghanaian-British actor, best known for his roles in the films Tears of the Sun, Hidalgo, 300, and television series such as Starz’ Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, and Spartacus: Vengeance.

Mensah was born at Chiraa, Ghana, and comes from an academic family. He was born to parents from the Brong Ahafo Region, and moved to Hertfordshire, England, with his father, Peter Osei Mensah, an engineer, his mother, a writer, and two younger sisters at a young age.

Mensah began practising martial arts at the age of six.
Mensah’s film credits include Avatar, 300, Hidalgo, Tears of the Sun, Jason X, Harvard Man, Bless the Child and The Incredible Hulk. He also stars in the short film The Seed, produced and directed by Linkin Park’s DJ Joe Hahn.

He has made television appearances in Star Trek: Enterprise, Tracker, Witchblade, Blue Murder, Relic Hunter, Earth: Final Conflict, Highlander: The Raven, and La Femme Nikita. He was a member of the repertory cast of the A&E Network series A Nero Wolfe Mystery and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Mensah played the character Oenomaus in Spartacus and was on the Spartacus Panel at Comic-Con 2009 and 2011. He had a recurring role in the fifth season of True Blood.

In 1999, he was the hunky receptionist in Striking poses the movie. He also played Skinhead in Bruiser the movie in 2000. Also in 2000, Peter was the good samaritan janitor in Bless the child the movie. He was the tall gay basher in the movie; The perfect son, in the year 2000. Mensah then went on in 2001 to starr in Harvard Man, the movie as Cyrill The Butler. Also in 2001 Peter was Sgt. Brodsky in the movie, Jason X. In 2002, he was the boxer in Triggerman. Still in 2002, in Cypher Vault, Mensah was the Security Guard.

Later in 2003, he acted the character, Terwase in Tears of the sun which is an American action thriller film depicting a U.S. Navy SEAL team rescue mission amidst the civil war in Nigeria. Lieutenant A.K. Waters played by Bruce Willis commands the team sent to rescue U.S. citizen Dr. Lena Fiore Kendricks (Monica Bellucci) before the approaching rebels reach her jungle hospital. The film was directed by Antoine Fuqua.
In 2004, he took the character, Jaffa in the movie Hidalgo.

He also in 2017–2018, played Lemuel Bridger in television series, Midnight, Texas.
Peter Mensah has amidst the aforementioned film productions, starred in many other productions and hasn’t ever failed to bring smiles to our faces through them.
