Idris Elba, a Hollywood star, will direct the Lagos-based short film “Dust To Dreams” in collaboration with Nigerian filmmaker Mo Abudu.

Dust to Dreams explores the relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter when she sees her father for the first time.

Mo Abudu took to social media on Tuesday to give more information about the film, which will include British-Nigerian music sensation Seal, Nollywood actors Nse Ikpe-Etim, Eku Edewor, Atlanta Bridget Johnson, and former Nigerian Idol competitor Constance Olatunde.

Her post which is based on a report published by the entertainment platform Deadline, also shows that the film is a collaboration between EbonyLife Films and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), through its Creative Africa Nexus (Canex).

“I’m beyond thrilled to announce a groundbreaking collaboration close to my heart!” she wrote.

Dust To Dreams is the first notable production to come out of a co-production deal Abudu and Elba signed through their respective production companies, EbonyLife Media and Green Door Pictures, in 2023.

Abudu, who created the film, will serve as both executive producer and producer, with Heidi Uys as supervising producer. Other co-producers on the project are Temidayo Makanjuola, Inem King, and Vanessa Demme.
