Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken punitive measures against two pizza outlets in the Federal Capital Territory for using expired dough blend seasoning.
Mr. Ozigis Abdulsalam, the FCT Director of the agency, disclosed this development in a statement issued in Abuja.
He explained that the FCT department of NAFDAC acted on intelligence information and conducted inspections at various pizza outlets, uncovering that two of them were utilising expired dough blend seasoning.
“The two outlets were also using deep ham slices in the preparation of their pizzas,” Abdulsalam elaborated.
Such actions, he emphasised, constitute a disregard for best practices and pose significant risks to food safety, potentially leading to public health concerns.
Abdulsalam further revealed that the implicated ingredients were confiscated, and the respective company faced penalties for its negligence.
The company in question is now required to provide an undertaking, pledging not to engage in such substandard practices in the future.
