Police Rescue Some Victims of Igueben Train Attack  (News Central TV)

Edo State Commissioner of Police has confirmed that security agencies have rescued some kidnapped victims at the Igueben train station.

The Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu in the company of the Commissioner of Police and other Security Personnel visited the train Station for an on-the-spot assessment.   

Shaibu revealed that the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has instructed that all relevant state security apparatus be deployed to the spot until they secure the safe release of the kidnapped victims.

Recall that unidentified armed men stormed the train station at about 4pm on Saturday shooting sporadically and kidnapped an unspecified number of passengers waiting to board the train to Warri in Delta State.

The police revealed that the gunmen who invaded the train station in Edo state on Saturday have started making contact with the families of some of the kidnapped victims.

In his response, the Minister of Transportation, Mua’zu Sambo condemned the recent attack, describing it as despicable and utterly barbaric. In a statement signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike, assured Nigerians that the security agencies are making efforts to ensure that the kidnapped passengers are rescued.

The statement reads: “The Public is hereby reassured that the security Agencies are making efforts to rescue the kidnapped Train passengers.“The Nigerian Police is on the trail of the criminals and have mobilised with a view to protecting the lives and property of the remaining passengers.
