The election in Akwa Ibom State on February 25 was won by the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
According to the results announced by INEC at the State Collation Centre in Uyo, the state’s capital, Atiku won in 23 of the state’s 31 local government areas.
Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate who won in six local government areas across the states, comes in second place after Atiku.
Peter Obi of the Labour Party won in only two local government areas including the state capital, Uyo LGA.
Atiku also won the polls in Osun State, defeating his closest rivals; Tinubu and Obi, with 354,366 votes whilst the other two mentioned earlier had 343,945 and 23,283 voters respectively.
He has also won in Yobe, Katsina, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari. He also won in Gombe and is leading in his home state of Adamawa.
