The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, has inaugurated the third edition of the French-facilitated maritime exercise, codenamed Crocodile Lift, designed to enhance skills in amphibious operations.
Vice Admiral Ogalla was represented at the event by the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Naval Doctrine Command, Rear Admiral Shehu Gombe.
The exercise took place on Saturday aboard the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) KADA at the Western Naval Command in Lagos.
The naval chief noted that the exercise was akin to the recently concluded Exercise Grand African Nemo, emphasising that it also provided a platform for partners with aligned security objectives to devise African-led solutions to transborder threats and challenges.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s dedication and readiness to strengthen regional collaboration to ensure the safety and security of shared maritime spaces, fostering economic prosperity.
Vice Admiral Ogalla highlighted the combined efforts of the Nigerian Navy, regional allies, and international partners in enhancing regional maritime security, as demonstrated during the successful completion of Exercise Grand African Nemo 2024.
