Femi Otedola, a multibillionaire businessman in Nigeria, recently visited APC Presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in France, sparking nationwide reactions as to whether or not he has endorsed the former Lagos State Governor.
Otedola via his verified Twitter handle, @realFemiOtedola, on Tuesday tweeted a picture he took with Tinubu, describing the former Lagos State Governor as his “great friend.”
“I am always excited visiting my Great Friend Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu @officialABAT. May God grant him his heart’s desire in becoming the President of this great Nation,” he wrote.
A UK-based Nigerian Lecturer Dr. Dipo Awojide fondly referred to as ‘Ogbeni Dipo’ tweeted and said; “One man, one vote. One for Otedola, one for Dipo, one for Emeka, one for Aliyu. One man, one vote. Don’t moan, don’t cry. Don’t abuse, don’t fight. Go and campaign and get ready to vote!”
Investigative Journalist Fisayo Soyombo also said; “Femi Otedola openly endorsing “his good friend Tinubu” is not politics but business. It’s about survival — not elections. It is the business of business owners to quickly align with political powers that will guarantee the protection of their interests.”
Media personlity and sports photo-journalist Sulaiman Adebayo fondly referred to as “Pooja” also said; “Dangote must be shaking right now that they are dragging Otedola for uploading a photo of him with Tinubu cos how he wan upload hin own?”
Otedola’s visit comes a day after Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, paid Tinubu a visit and snapped a photo with him in France,.
In a tweet sent on Monday, Abiodun claimed that he had “quality time” to “rub heads on several party and national issues” with Tinubu.
After meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on a Monday morning at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu left for France the previous week.
When announcing the departure, his spokesman, Tunde Rahman, did not specify how long the APC standard bearer would be gone but did say that Tinubu will soon be returning to the nation.
“He is off to Paris, France to hold some important meetings,” Rahman said in a statement.
A day before his departure, Tinubu attended the public presentation of a book titled ‘Mr. Speaker’ and launch of legislative mentoring initiative in commemoration of the 60th birthday of Speaker of House Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Recall that the APC’s presidential primaries and national convention were held at Eagle Square in Abuja on June 8, and Asiwaju Tinubu was declared the party’s nominee for president in the election scheduled for February 25, 2023.
