Nigeria’s former military leaders, Ibrahim Babangida, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Olusegun Obasanjo and former National Security Adviser Aliyu Gusau, met on Sunday in Minna Niger State reportedly to discuss the state of insecurity across the country.
Obasanjo arrived in Minna on Sunday onboard a chartered flight from Benin where he had previously visited the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Gabriel Igbinedion, to congratulate him on his 90th birthday.
Upon his arrival, Obasanjo went straight to Babangida’s Hilltop residence, where Abdulsalami and Gusau were already present.
Although the details of the meeting were not disclosed, sources close to the former leaders suggested that it may be related to the increasing incidents of banditry and insecurity affecting Niger State and other parts of Northern Nigeria.
