President Bola Tinubu has approved procurement contracts worth N6.32 billion for the Port-Harcourt Intl Airport and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos

The approval for the airport contracts was given by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) after a meeting presided by President Tinubu.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, when he spoke with reporters after the FEC meeting.

The two airport contacts cost N4.1 billion and N2.23 billion respectively.

According to the Minister, the first airport contract, involving technical support services at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, was at N4.1 billion.

The second one, sited at the Port Harcourt International Airport, involving the fixing of some navigational equipment, was at N2.23 billion.

Keyamo indicated that the procurement primarily involves communication equipment, specifically referred to as remote assets devices and other accessories intended for utilization in the wide-area multilateral air traffic management system.

Recall that the Federal Government of Nigeria ordered all international airlines to vacate the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) from October 1 to enable maintenance of the facility.

The airport contracts approval is coming a few months after Keyamo, who was recently confirmed minister, was taken on a tour by the Managing Director of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Kabir Yusuf Mohammed.
