The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, leadership has called off its one-week warning strike that began on May 17.
Dr. Emeka Orji, the group’s president, told newsmen over the phone that the association had agreed to a two-week suspension of the action with the government on Friday.
However, he added that the association will decide on their next course of action following the doctors’ meeting on June 2nd this year to examine progress achieved with the signed agreement.
News Central earlier reported that the resident doctors and the Federal Government have reached an agreement over the five-day warning strike embarked upon by the association.
Following the expiration of a 14-day deadline to the government, NARD started a five-day warning strike on May 17 to emphasize its demands.
The doctors are seeking, among other things, the quick infrastructural renovation of public hospitals as well as the settlement of all salary arrears for their members.
