The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has pointed accusing fingers at Nigeria’s recently appointed Minister of Arts and Culture, Mrs Hannatu Musawa for violating the NYSC Act.

According to NYSC Director, Press and Public Relations Eddy Megwa, occupying a ministerial position while participating in the mandatory one year national service, is wrong and unacceptable.

Megwa confirmed that the minister who has been mute since the controversy surrounding her appointment, is eight months gone into her service year at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

The NYSC Spokesperson also claimed that Musawa had been previously mobilised to serve the nation, but had absconded from duty.

He said NYSC was following the matter closely, and necessary action will be taken in due time.

Many reactions have trailed Musawa’s appointment since it was revealed that she is a serving corps members.

However, the minister who is also a lawyer, politician and author is yet to say anything pertaining to the matter.
